2014 Bowl Spectacular: **Update, Part 3**

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Once again, the tide has turned in the MBBPS. After falling behind on Christmas Eve, I was able to make a miraculous comeback over the past two days, posting a 7-1 record (including six wins in a row! God bless you Frank Beamer and Todd Graham!) on December 26 and 27. Behind a coalition of ACC, Pac 12, Big 10, and SEC teams (and my own expertise at randomly picking teams I know nothing about), I was able to vault into the lead.

Falling short of his impressive showing from last time, Matt finished with a 3-5 record over the last two days, suffering from the ineptitude of such teams as Illinios, Cincinnati, and Duke. As is usually the case in our Bowl Prediction Spectacular, the margin seperating us through 18 games in razor thin. Current standings: Keith 11, Matt 9.

For our live look in update, I once again managed to continue my streak of taking in a portion of each game. On 12/26, I made it home in time to witness the final five minutes of the Heart of Dallas Bowl. I followed that up by watching the first half of the Quick Lane Bowl, and later that night, the second half of the St. Petersburgh Bowl.

On December 27, I spent most of the day glued to the television, spending my entire afternoon flipping between the Military, Sun, and Independence Bowls. I then caught the first quarter of the Pinstripe Bowl (which Penn State won in overtime due to a missed PAT by BC) before heading out for the evening.

The final game of the day, the Holiday Bowl (also our game of the day) was on the big television at Loco’s Deli and Grill when Dean and I stopped in for dinner. I alternated between the bowl game and the Georiga-Mercer basketball game (won by UGA in triple OT!) until halftime, then headed home to catch the rest.

After USC (my pick) took a 45-27 lead midway through the third quarter, it looked like the Trojans had it sewn up. But then Nebraska, behind the running of Ameer Abdullah, fought its way back into the game. In fact, in a 45-42 game, the Huskers had the ball at the USC 32 yard line, but failed to convert on a 4th down. Ballgame.

That’s it for now. As the immortal Larry Munson once said, “Now there’s no use going away now, because you know it isn’t going to end like this.” There is no telling what might happen in the days ahead. Check out the chart below for our current standings, and stay tuned for more updates in the near future. See you next time!
